The Greenaway River area and park offer a serene refuge for both wildlife and people. I chose to paint the Spoonbill, a native bird with delicate colour. Their quirky, larger than life characteristics have a childish quality. Its beautiful appearance casts me to youthful memories associated with time spent on the Greenaway River. The process of painting this Spoonbill was enjoyable as I reminisced about moments with my family at a park having lunch —drawing in my sketchbook in the grass with a view of the birds playing in the trees. The peacefulness I felt whilst painting the details in the feathers transported me to these peaceful memories.
